Hi there!I draw creatures both real and imagined, sometimes accompanied by stars and flowers, and usually on people’s skin. I’m interested in why we get tattooed, what tattoos do for us beyond what we can see, and enjoy learning what inspired you to reach out. I also have a special place in my heart for animal memorials.I hope you find what you’re looking for here!
All the best,
Arlo

FAQ

  • Check my Instagram bio to see whether my books are open.
  • If my books are closed, please do not email or DM me. Messages sent during this time will go unanswered.
  • If my books are open, follow the link in my bio and carefully complete the booking form.
  • Note: I understand it can be frustrating trying to book with a tattooer. It can be difficult to financially plan for a tattoo and schedule a proposal when you don’t know an artist’s future booking availability.

I am currently focusing on working at a slightly larger scale—at least 8 inches.

Subjects I Enjoy Tattooing:

  • Animals of all kinds
  • Mythical creatures
  • Mythological beast women (harpies, sphinxes, faeries, or your own unique combinations)
  • Pokémon (always a favorite!)
  • Any of the above incorporated with:
    • Celestial imagery (stars, sparkles, moons, etc.)
    • Forest-inspired motifs (moss, mushrooms, ferns, dewy spider webs, etc.)
    • Plants (herbs, flowers, garden veggies, wild flora, etc.)
    • Witchy or magickal elements
  • Deposits and drawing fees are non-refundable.
  • If you need to reschedule your tattoo, please do so at least 48 hours before your appointment. This gives me enough time to try to fill your spot.
  • Your deposit will be transferred to your new appointment time if I receive 48+ hours notice.
  • If I am given less than 48 hours’ notice, I will require a new deposit, except in the case of a true emergency.
  • I work Tuesday through Friday, with limited availability on Saturday afternoons.
  • I do not tattoo on Sunday or Monday. I reserve these days for drawing and recharging.

Before Your Appointment FAQ

The Day Of:

  • Eat a filling meal within 2 hours of your appointment.

  • I will send you to get food across the street if you haven’t eaten. I’ve had clients get woozy after even a small tattoo, and I’m pretty sensitive to being tattooed myself :)

  • Stay hydrated and drink lots of water

  • NO LOTION

  • Lotion can cause the stencil to fall right off! Even for a shading session, it can leave a residue that may clog needles. Lotion is great for the week leading up to the appointment, but not the night before or the morning of.

  • Zelle is preferred! Venmo or cash are also accepted as well. Below are the bank ATMs closest to the shop.

  • Bank of America ATM 2546 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702

  • Wells Fargo ATM 2835 Telegraph Ave, Berkeley, CA 94705

  • Chase ATM 2352 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704

The Night Before:

  • Get a good night’s sleep

  • Refrain from any substances that can leave you feeling washed out or hungover, but especially alcohol as it will dehydrate you! This makes your skin harder to tattoo.

Getting to the Shop:Address: Magnetic Arts, 2110 Ashby Ave, Berkeley, CA 94705

  • Parking– Please look at a map of the streets labeled below ahead of your appointment!

  • Monday-Friday: DO NOT PARK ON THE SHOP SIDE OF ASHBY. The city tows the shop-side of Ashby from 4-6pm. We have a sign up at the shop door but many people miss it.

  • Parking can be found on Ashby ACROSS THE STREET from the shop. Parking can also be found on Russel off of Shattuck, and Shattuck in front of the Enterprise lot, on the same corner as the shop. Lorina also sometimes has parking.

  • PAY ATTENTION TO ALL PARKING SIGNS. This is the best information I have but stuff changes on us from time to time.
